About Davos

Davos with around 13,000 inhabitants, located at 1560m above sea level in the Swiss Alps in the canton of Graubünden. Shopping, bars, a casino, a cinema and over 100 restaurants as well as theaters, museums and exhibitions offer an urban ambience. Davos has a variety of offers that cannot be matched by any other mountain holiday destination in Europe and is therefore a holiday, sports and congress city as well as a center for health, research and culture. With the characteristic alpine flat roof, Davos has developed an independent architectural style. Primarily, Davos is a place for leisure and relaxation. On just a few minutes' drive from the center, the visitor is immersed in an intact, magnificent mountain landscape. The Davos side valleys Flüela, Dischma or Sertig are very popular as natural oases and are located in the immediate vicinity of our accommodation. In older times, Davos was known, among other things, for its special climate. In 1860, the first guesthouse opened for spa guests. The immigrant German doctor "Alexander Spengler" introduced the reclining cure because of the good air in Davos, which attracted numerous patients to Davos. Alexander Spengler made Davos world famous with this therapy method. Today you can still marvel at Thomas Mann's bestseller novel “The Magic Mountain”. In addition to Thomas Mann, many other artists, scientists, philosophers and writers also traveled to Davos, which helped shape the image of Davos as a health resort and contributed to what Davos stands for today, with its numerous sport-, event- and cultural offerings. The most attractive offer of leisure activities made Davos a trendsetter amongst other cities early on.
